Haze by Helen Caddick
Commissioned in 2016 to write a piece in response to the JMW Turner: Adventures in Colour exhibition held at Turner Contemporary, Margate, Helen Caddick created Haze. Reacting to the sumptuous colours and use of light Turner employed in his work, Haze aims to create a further dimension to the experience of the audience, as if they themselves had stepped forward into the artworks.
A new silent film by Phil Miller will also be screened as backdrop to a live performance by the CantiaQuorum ensemble of Haze, weaving images of the paintings which inspired the work alongside footage of the coast which inspired Turner, seen as it is today. An accompanying film The Making of Haze will be screened beforehand.
